The Temple

Nagalassery Ayyappankavu is an ancient and revered temple dedicated to Lord Sastha (Prabhasathya Sameta), situated in Nagalassery, Pattambi Taluk, Palakkad District, Kerala. Poojas are conducted twice daily with complete devotion and discipline. The main shrines of Lord Sastha and Lord Mahadeva face east, with Namaskaramandapams and Vathilmadams in front.

This temple is under the Oorayma of Koodallur Mana, one of the prestigious Ashtagramas of Kerala, and is administered by a dedicated local committee of devotees.

The Sacred Pond — Nagamchira

Adjacent to the Sarpakkavu of Nagalassery village lies Nagamchira, a sprawling one-acre sacred pond that has blessed this land for centuries. Its presence beside the temple enhances the divine prosperity and auspiciousness of the entire temple complex. Ancient belief holds that this very temple may have been established after filling a portion of this sacred water body.

The remnants of ancient Gopurams, the foundation of the Oottupura (community dining hall), and a sacred pond with Ganga presence in front of the Mahadeva shrine all bear witness that Ayyappankavu was once a magnificent grand temple of great historical importance.

Temple Renovation Appeal

Help Rebuild Our Sacred Shrines

As revealed by the Thaabool Prasnam (divine consultation), the main shrines of Lord Sastha and Lord Vettaikkorumakan need to be demolished and rebuilt. Under the guidance of temple Thantri Brahmasree Thanthraratnam Pottakuzhi Narayanan Namboothiri, a dedicated Renovation Committee has been formed.
